Crystal Story: Awakening v1.2 Released!


First of all, it's been a great launch! Thank you all for trying out the game, sharing it, talking about it, and providing feedback! I've been super busy over the past week working in your feedback while adding a few small features. Here's what I did!


Puzzle changes!
This was a big change. Quite a few of you were stuck trying to get two specific key pieces. In version 1.2, I've added some context clues to areas to help out:



Controller support!
I this version, controller support has been added  via a lightweight external app called AntiMicro, as a workaround (in this phase, controller support is essentially handled by an keyboard-to- button mapper). Down the road, the game will be given an overhaul to controls, and controller support will be baked in, so for now, bear with me, lol. A guide is included in the Readme file of this build! :D Here's what the controller map looks like:




Misc. bug fixes and tweaks
There were a lot of (sometimes hilarious) bugs in the initial version. I worked hard this week to get them ironed out, though I'm sure there will be more where that came from! As always, feel free to start a discussion thread on the project page or contact me! :D

The road ahead...
Eventually, controller support will be baked in - I'm planning on working with Dooper on getting a lot of stuff overhauled, taking care of bug fixes and optimizing stuff as I go! Eventually, once I'm happy with how far the Preview Version has progressed, I will eventually drop the "Preview Version" moniker and will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a full game.

Also, for players using a QWERTZ keyboard layout, I plan on adding support for that very soon. I know it's a bit of a pain to reach up on your keyboard to use the Interact/Talk button!
